Whale trips are seasonal, mainly from late winter into spring; turtle nesting tours run on summer nights. They are wild animals, so sightings cannot be guaranteed and exact operating dates change.
No. Sal Rei is a small island capital, not a major city, and Boa Vista is comparatively low and arid. Monte Estância reaches about 387 metres; the island is known more for dunes and beaches than high mountains.
Most marine trips use Sal Rei and its bay. Always check the meeting point: resorts around Praia de Chaves or the south coast are not the same place as Sal Rei, and transfers may be part of the tour.
